Studio Policies
Brevard Ballet Academy

Clear, fair policies help our Melbourne, FL studio run smoothly so every dancer can focus on what matters most—the joy of classical ballet. Please review the guidelines below, and reach out with any questions.

Dress Code

A clean, classical dress code keeps the focus on the dancer and allows our instructors to see alignment clearly. Female students wear a leotard, pink tights, and the appropriate ballet shoe for their level, with hair secured in a neat bun. Male students wear a fitted white or black shirt, black tights or leggings, and ballet shoes.

Specific leotard colors are assigned by level so faculty can quickly identify each class. Please remove jewelry before class, and label all shoes and dancewear with your student’s name. We’re glad to help new families find everything they need—just ask at the front desk.

Attendance & Punctuality

Consistent attendance is the single greatest factor in a dancer’s progress. Ballet builds on itself week to week, and missed classes are difficult to recover. We ask that students attend regularly and arrive five to ten minutes before class so they are warmed up and ready to begin on time.

Students who arrive after the barre has begun may be asked to observe for safety reasons. If your student must miss a class, please notify the studio in advance. Make-up classes may be available in a comparable level when space permits.

Tuition & Payment

Tuition is billed on a monthly basis and is due by the first of each month, regardless of the number of classes in that month or individual absences. Tuition reserves your student’s place in class for the full season.

We accept major credit cards and other convenient payment methods. A late fee may apply to balances unpaid after the grace period. Families experiencing hardship are encouraged to contact us privately—we will always do our best to help a dedicated student continue training.

Registration & Fees

A one-time annual registration fee per family secures enrollment for the season and helps cover administrative and studio costs. Placement in each level is determined by the faculty based on age, experience, and readiness to ensure every student is appropriately challenged and supported.

Costume, recital, and performance fees are separate from tuition and are announced well in advance of each production so families can plan accordingly.

Withdrawal & Refunds

We understand that circumstances change. To withdraw a student, please provide written notice to the studio. Tuition is non-refundable once a month has begun, and notice given mid-month does not prorate that month’s tuition.

Registration, costume, and performance fees are non-refundable, as these funds are committed to materials and venue arrangements on your student’s behalf. We appreciate your understanding as we plan our season around enrolled dancers.

Inclement Weather

Florida weather can be unpredictable. In the event of severe weather, hurricanes, or other emergencies, the studio may cancel classes for the safety of our families and staff. Closures will be communicated by email and posted to our social media channels as early as possible.

When feasible, missed classes due to weather closures may be rescheduled or offered as a make-up. Tuition is not adjusted for occasional weather-related cancellations.

Studio Etiquette & Conduct

Ballet is a discipline rooted in respect—for the art form, the instructor, and fellow dancers. Students are expected to enter the studio quietly, listen attentively, refrain from talking during instruction, and treat classmates with kindness and encouragement.

Cell phones are silenced and put away during class. Food and gum are not permitted in the studio; water in a closed container is welcome. Our goal is a focused, positive, and supportive environment where every dancer can thrive.

Parent / Observer Policy

To help students concentrate, classes are generally closed to observers. We know families love to watch, so we schedule designated observation weeks each season when parents and guardians are warmly invited into the studio to see their dancer’s progress.

A comfortable waiting area is available for families during class. For our youngest dancers, a parent may be asked to remain on-site. Thank you for trusting us with your dancer’s training—we look forward to celebrating their growth with you.

These policies are provided for general guidance and may be updated each season. Enrolled families receive the current studio handbook with full details at registration.
